THE REDCLIFFE AND DISTRICT BRANCH HAS CLOSED

REDCLIFFE &
DISTRICT BRANCH

  Coastal Banksia.
Banksia integrifolia. Family Proteaceae.
The inaugural meeting of the Redcliffe Peninsula & District Branch of SGAP was held on 12th October 1973. John Birbeck was elected Chairman and Joan Walter Secretary. Members came from a wide area, including Sandgate and Brighton in the south to Caboolture in the north. Involvement in conservation issues has always been a feature of this Branch.

In 1979 the Branch withdrew from SGAP because they felt there was a divergence of aims and ideals. The Redcliffe Australian Plants Club was formed. Some members, of course, still retained their SGAP membership. With the introduction of Affiliated Organizations into SGAP Queensland Region, the Club rejoined the SGAP in this capacity in October 1981.

In 1993 Redcliffe returned as a Branch of SGAP, becoming Redcliffe & District Branch.
