DAYTIME BRANCH

Friday, 12th July 1996, was the inaugural meeting of this Branch, which was formed because of a perceived need for a group of SGAP to meet during the daytime to accommodate the needs of retired people, those with young children and those who do not like travelling at night. Inaugural Chairman was Jan Glazebrook, with Fran Bright as Secretary.

Meetings - second Friday of each month (except January) at a different venue each time. Morning tea at 9.30 am followed by the meeting at 10.00 am. Please bring morning tea, lunch, chair, sensible walking shoes and hat. See our Contacts page for contact information.

On 15th December 1971 Merv Hodge convened a meeting of interested SGAP members on the south side of Brisbane, where the Southside Branch of SGAP was formed with Merv Hodge as Chairman and D. OConnor as Secretary/Treasurer.

BRISBANE WESTERN SUBURBS BRANCH

David Hanger convened a meeting of members in the western suburbs of Brisbane on 16th May 1972. Here the Western Suburbs Branch was born, with David Hanger as Chairman and N. Keating as Secretary/Treasurer. In 1979 this Branch published a book (in loose-leaf and bound forms) called, Perfumed and Aromatic Australian Plants, compiled and written by Ralph Bailey. On1st June 1982, Western Suburbs amalgamated with the nearby Oxley Branch of SGAP. For a time the Branch became known as Western Suburbs/Oxley Branch, but in 1990 reverted back to Brisbane Western Suburbs Branch.

SGAP Qld Region MEETINGS

are also held in Brisbane

Meetings are held on the second Monday of the month and commence at 8.00 pm at the Botanic Gardens Theatrette, Mt. Coot-tha Road, Toowong. All members and friends are welcome to attend. Regular features of each meeting include Book Sales, Plant Exchange, Library, Discussion of Specimens, Snapshots (short items by members) and the advertised speaker. The Annual General Meeting is held in April each year.
